TERRA CRUISIN' SUMMER 2026
Share

And just like that, the seasons transform again. Summer 2026—our first cycle of Terra Cruz Botanicals—is wrapping up, and I’d like to take a moment to reflect on the past season. But first, let me properly introduce myself. I’m Sophia—co-founder of Terra Cruz, & the herbal brain behind Terra Cruz Botanicals. Together, my partner and I practice living with the land and tend our small homestead nestled in the Santa Cruz redwoods. From our workshop, I formulate new herbal blends for every season, released in complementary duos as small-batch drops, hand-crafted with love.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
Humans are meant to live cyclically, in rhythm with the earth. There’s a special kind of magic that happens when you learn to notice, and be in tune with seasonal cycles. The norms of our modern society don’t encourage this, instead leading us into a monotone life, where every day is the same—our schedules, our routines, our foods—static.
But the earth is always changing—in dynamic equilibrium with the universe. It’s difficult to wrap your mind around the complex planetary acrobatics that we take part in as we cruise around the solar system—twirling in our dance with the moon, our lilting jaunt around our star, the spiraling traverse of the entire galaxy through space. Feeling the manifestations of the seasons, the cycling of the moon and the stars, is the connection through which we can understand the universal patterns that exist within and all around us.
Plants are our neighbors, oldest friends, and most importantly, our teachers for how to live in balance with the earth. The plants that we use as medicinal herbs, embody energetic patterns that can be internalized to bring balance within the body as we ride through the seasons. There are, of course, bioactive plant compounds which we can identify and study their mechanisms of action in order to apply them to particular conditions, but the folklore and ritual and intentionality of an herbal practice is just as important to consider.
For me, my route of connection with the earth and the seasons came through my herbal tea ritual, and that’s what I’m sharing with you all now. I went looking for answers on how to fix the imbalances I felt in my body. Interfacing with the modern world is no small feat—it demands a lot of us, and often left me feeling depleted, burnt out, and out of balance. My herbal tea ritual became a daily opportunity for me to take a moment to check in with myself and ask: where am I in the cycle of life right now? what do I need in this moment to feel more grounded and balanced? It is an act of mindfulness and self-care that I want to share. As I began learning more about traditional herbalism and seasonal energetics, I began to formulate blends to help bring balance to my body through the dynamics of life experience.

SEASONAL HERBAL TEAS
So for the first Terra Cruz Botanicals seasonal drop ~Summer 2026~ I created two blends to help reflect and bring balance to the energies of summer. Summer is the season of fire. It is a season of enthusiasm and abundance, joy of the heart, but it also burns hot and dry. Energy rises and the system can become overheated and depleted if we do not take care to counter balance the energetics of summer fire. We can use cooling and moistening herbs to rehydrate, relaxing herbs to soothe the system, and nutritive herbs to nourish.
Wildberry Bloom is a vibrant, juicy herbal blend— bringing heart opening florals, cardio-soothing hibiscus, vitality-supporting sour berries, grounding earthy notes, and lightly sweetened with stevia leaf. This blend is meant to be prepared iced and enjoyed as a cooling summer tonic—to promote circulation and release the excess heat of the day.
Golden Earthshine is inspired by the late afternoon light of the sun as it passes through the canopy—the photosynthetic alchemy of the redwoods. This blend is soothing, cooling, drying, with a distinctly uplifting and sunny disposition. Lemon balm and chamomile shine here—soothing, cooling, and relaxing—while nutrient-rich stinging nettle and red raspberry leaf nourish depleted tissues. Ginger & orange peel provide an aromatic, pungent kick—promoting circulation and stimulating digestion after a meal.

WHAT’S NEXT
We had a wonderful summer here at Terra Cruz—soaking up the Santa Cruz sun, exploring and falling in love with the redwood biome we get to live within, starting our garden again from scratch—and sharing it all with you. I want to share this love I have for the world, for the plants all around me, that support me through this life. I want to inspire my fellow earth-lovers to build your own rituals that nourish the body, calm the spirit, and clarify the mind. Share my tea with me, and together let’s learn how to be happy and well. Let’s make tea!
Bask in the last few days of summer as we look forward to the approaching energetic transition—Terra Cruzin’ into autumn. September 22nd is the autumnal equinox, marking the exact moment of the transition in the tilt of the earth as we begin to lean away from the sun, turning our head from the fire. Day and night are equivalent, libra season commences, embodiment of balance and turning points. It’s a season of action, with a dying sort of frenzy, as we finish out the working season, let go of what needs to be let go of, and prepare for the winter rest.
So get ready for the transition and stay tuned for our Terra Cruz Botanicals autumn drop! Two new blends—my offering of shared support in the new season of autumn—preparing you to activate calm ~ embody dawn & dusk.
I’m so grateful for all the support I have received this summer. Everyone’s feedback means the world to me and nourishes my spirit. I have so many ideas I want to share with you, and I can’t wait to start this new season.

cheers, love ya ⋆⭒˚☾.⋆
